Booster Session!

Hi Boonlayians,

It has been 5 weeks since you have all graduated from Live! Operation. I have seen improvements in most of you, keep it up! Of course, there is definitely room for improvements eg.  getting into your rows quickly during every morning’s flag raising ceremony (remember: Do it once, do it fast, do it right!).

There will be a booster session by Captain Ridhwan on 23 February 2010 (Tues) at 1.40pm. This is the time to celebrate some of your achievements and to meet some of your Platoon Mentors (PMs) [I'm sure you miss them].

In the next few days, may I invite you to write words of encouragement to your classmates/friends/teachers who have helped you so far! It may just be a simple ‘Thank You’, remember it’s the thought that counts!

Have a splendid CNY and enjoy the long break!

Best regards,

Mr Stanley Yang

Back to School.AWESOME!

The higher we clap, the more successful we'll be...

Dear Troopers,

Hope the weekend has been well for you. And i hope that this LIVE! Operation camp has created an impact for your life the 52 hours that you spent at SINGPAORE VISION FARM. But what’s more important is that the learning does not have to stop you. What’s more crucial is that you apply what you learnt in the experience to everyday situations in your lives. Like how to be more confident or disciplined. How to be more self aware of your actions and manage yourselves better relationships with those around you. Many a class has bonded well during this experience. Let’s all create starting the same positive energy that we have had during the camp, bring it back to the class and spread it around BOON LAY SEC! You can start a change a ripple effect, a difference. Just like how the final fall in and keluar baris at the parade square made an impact among BOON LAYIANS whether you are a Sec 2 or Sec 1 or even a teacher:) So today start to make the positive choices in your life. For CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

CHOOSE TO WIN.

If you go to FISH AND CO, they say that to cook a fish takes 10 minutes to cook it well 15 and MIRACLES TAKE SLIGHTLY LONGER.

Thankfully, for your photos to be uploaded dont need that much time. So here it is.

The Victory March

The last mission for the day was our GRADUATION MARCH. 4 kilometres under the hot sun we had to complete this as a team, a cohort. It will be easy for one or two people to complete a 4km march but to do it as a team requires greater strength, perseverance  and resilience. Some of the roads we walked on were slippery and muddy, and this is just like a lesson in life- sometimes in life you have to step outside our comfort zone to reach our destination.

Keeping our flag unfurled!

The distance is covered one step at a time.

With songs and cheers ringing through the line, we made a difference in the streets of Choa Chu Kang. We encouraged one another to persevere and go the distance and we challenged ourselves to just go a little bit more, to close the gap. Finally, we descended upon our finish line-the campsite! And with water sprayed upon us we gathered in the auspicious training shed-as victors!

Yes We Can!

MISSION DAY!

The second day was a day of missions. Having completed BMT, some of us were appointed as PLATOON SERGRANTS. We had to go out there and lead our company and find secret coded messages that was important for the rest of the day.

This was a time of working together as a team. We had to understand that we need to understand and respect one another first before we could function as a team. Every team is only as strong as its weakest link. Together then we could achieve more!

This was especially true for THE GREAT RAID. A game of strategy where we had to win battleships and territories from opponent teams by answering the challenges the coaches give us. If we had no territory left, we had to go to DEAD MAN’S CHEST and start all over again. Even the teachers joined in this game and formed PLATOON CHAMPION.

Roaming around on a battleship

Just one of the inspiring challenges!

This game taught us never to give up even if we have lost something. We can always work hard, change our strategy and attain the things we want to achieve. It also gave us the confidence to trust and believe that when we effectively work to our strengths the team can gain lots and lots of succcess! We must consistently encourage , motivate and inspire one another. Create POSITIVE ENERGY. This POSITIVE ENERGY is the one that will help us feel at the top of our game to go out and achieve our goals:)

Ultimate battle of students vs teachers

BMT. CHOOSE TO WIN!

After one whole day of perseverance and discipline, we finally suceeded in passing the test of BMT. We could now graduate as PRIVATES. In a nice ceremony at the WARRIORS HALL, we fell in as a cohort and received our ranks in the form of a sticker-I CONQUERED BMT!

All for One for All.

After today, we have learnt a lot about ourselves. Our strengths and weaknesses. How we can relate to one another and affect our friends. Make a difference in their lives. How there are no failures only learning experiences. And even we fall down a lot of times it is okay. What’s more significant is that we keep moving on each day to strive towards our goals.

BMT have taught us a lot of basic things in life. But sometimes it is the basic things that we need to have to make the positive choices in life! And choices have consequences. CHOOSE TO WIN!

BASIC MILITARY TRAINING….BEGINS! “SIR YES SIR!”

Today afternoon marks the start and the end of our Basic Military Training where we trained to be glorious recruits. Equipped with the 6 special words, Perserverance Respect Compassion Resilience Integrity and Discipline, nothing can stop us so long as we have the 3 powerful and special parts- Heart, Mind and Soul. Many of us come to this camp halfheartedly, many of us filled with reluctance while the rest may be excited and hyped about the camp. However right now you are faced with two choices- choose to win (remember what we said about win-win discipline) and participate a 100% or choose to float through this camp halfheartedly. Your choice, your consequence. You decide.

Be the activities be slippery slope, water tank repair, cargo net, postman walk or the simple gulf crisis, they all serve a special purpose- to achieve your rules because we remember that over here we have rewritten the rules.

Contacted!

When will the ball come out...

Keep On Going!!!

This is our day. This is our challenge.

We have officially arrived at our base camp @ SINGAPORE VISION FARM. Over here, we were shown our bunks, the training areas and challenged to give every obstacle and activity our very best. We can achieve if we put our heart and soul in it.

AND SO BEGINS. THE LIVE! OPERATION OF BOON LAY SECONDARY 2 COHORT OF 2010.

(Check this space out in the next 52 hours for more LIVE! UPDATES!)
